It is one of the oldest living tree species. It is used in the treatment of circulatory disorder and memory enhances. It is used in treatment of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Ginkgo leaves contains two types of chemicals which have potent antioxidant properties. They are flavonoids and trepenoids. A single tree can live as long as 1000 years and grow to height of 120 feet. It is an effective antioxidant. Seeds of this tree have been used in Chinese traditional medicines for thousands of years and cooked seeds are occasionally eaten. There are many names such as fossil tree, Ginkgo, Ginkgo biloba, maidenhair tree, Japanese silver apricot, bai guo ye, etc. Latin name is Ginkgo biloba.

Dosage for Ginkgo Biloba

Generally ginkgo biloba supplements should be taken in range of 40 mg to 200 mg per day. Take 2 capsules one in the morning and one in the night on a slightly empty stomach.

It prevents damage to your organs from radicals. It's effects on circulatory system helps in the treatment of eye and ear disorder. It increases metabolism efficiency, regulates neurotransmitters, and increases oxygen levels in brain. Improves in thinking, learning, memory, and social behavior, some feelings of depression, eye problems and activities of daily living. Ginkgo extracts are used in skin products.

Side Effects of Ginkgo Biloba

It causes some gastrointestinal discomfort and headaches. It may increase risk of bleeding and should not be used if you have a clotting disorder. Pregnant women should not use it. Restlessness, diarrhea, vomiting, nauseas are some other side effects. If you experience any side effect then decrease the dosage content.
